Homerun Stars outed

The previously unheard of game, Homerun Stars, was outed via Gameinformer today. Earlier in the day they ran a story on SmartGlass much like we did and mentioned “a holiday baseball title called Homerun Stars”. The general idea of the game is for SmartGlass users to pitch a ball to a gamer on Kinect and in reverse. This was all that was mentioned of the game but expect to hear more if it is releasing this holiday. It sounds like a great of use of new technology and seems as though it would be pretty fun. If anything else is revealed about Homerun Stars at E3 be sure to check back here.

Internet Explorer coming to Xbox 360 later this year

Microsoft has announced that Internet Explorer is coming to the Xbox 360 later this year. Stating that prior console based internet browsers had all been “clunky” and hard to use, Internet Explorer for the Xbox 360 will change that. Utilizing Kinect, the 360 version of Internet Explorer will be navigable utilizing voice commands. Maybe Microsoft read our Most Wanted feature from a little while back? In addition, 360 users will also be able to use the touch screen of their smart phone or tablet as a makeshift mouse cursor thanks to the newly announced Xbox Smartglass. Internet Explorer is expected to become available on the Xbox 360 later this year.

Microsoft broadens the spectrum with Xbox Smartglass

One of the biggest announcements from Microsoft during their E3 press conference today was the announcement of Xbox Smartglass. This application will allow players to seamlessly switch their media usage between their Xbox 360, mobile phone, and tablet. During the press conference, Microsoft showed players starting to watch a movie or television show on their mobile device, and then picking up right where they left off on their Xbox 360. In truly tasteful fashion, Microsoft showed off a clip from the upcoming film Prometheus as well as the television series Game of Thrones during a demonstration of the application.

Xbox Smartglass opens up a wide variety of new possibilities for actual games as well. Utilizing the touch screen of a mobile device, players will be able to draw custom plays in Madden NFL 2013, and then actually run them right then and there on the fly in their game on the Xbox. Additionally, exploring the world of Halo 4 will unlock features and information in Halo Waypoint. When you obtain one of these unlocks in the game, you’ll be able to check it out on your mobile device right then and there. We expect a lot more games to use this new technology as time goes on. Xbox Smartglass will be available across all major platforms including Windows, iOS and Android when it releases this holiday.

Smart Glass app seems pretty smart

Microsoft has supposedly revealed to content partners an unannounced app titled “Smart Glass” that is an Apple AirPlay-style app. It will allow AirPlay-style uses on the Xbox 360 whether it be via iOS, Android, or Windows Phone 7. It will allow users to “push” different types of media from the previously mentioned devices to the Xbox 360. This idea sounds pretty cool so hopefully we will hear more at E3.
