Xbox Live Gold is free this weekend!

To go alongside the newly launched entertainment apps, which includes Amazon Instant Video, Xbox live shall be free for all over the weekend. While it starts on Friday and lasts all the way through Sunday, it is only available in certain territories. US, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Chile are the countries taking part in the promotion.

In addition to getting access to Xbox Live Gold, all users in the US will also be able to access :

  • Amazon Instant Video
  • IGN
  • Manga Entertainment
  • MUZU.TV

Amazon Instant now available

Xbox 360 Gold Membership subscribers rejoice! Amazon Instant is no longer just for Playstation 3 anymore. The video application just went live today, including Kinect capability to surf, view hands-free and shout at the screen like a maniac. Unfortunately, streaming access to Amazon’s 17,000 videos is relegated to Amazon Prime owners, which can cost a steady chunk of change. However, Gold members can get a free trial for one month.
