Ubisoft announces Splinter Cell: Blacklist set to release in spring 2013

Ubisoft has officially announced that Sam Fisher is back in Splinter Cell: Blacklist and for the first time ever, is better with Kinect! Taking place six months after the events of Splinter Cell: Conviction, the nations of the Middle East have consolidated their efforts and demanded that the US pull out all troops from the region, or they will release a super secret file known only as the “blacklist”. In an act of desperation, the US calls in Sam Fisher to wage a one man war against the nations of the Middle East and stop the leak of this crucial information.

A demo of the game (which can be viewed above) was shown during Microsoft’s press briefing, which showed off the first gameplay which looks to please both fans of the classic stealth Splinter Cell games, as well as the new action oriented direction of Conviction. In addition to the new gameplay enhancements, Kinect owners will be able to use their voice to do things like distract enemies to sneak by, or flank them and take them by surprise. The announcement that the game will feature both co-op and the classic spies versus mercenaries competitive multiplayer also has fans buzzing. Splinter Cell: Blacklist will sneak or shoot (your choice) its way onto shelves in the spring of 2013.

Favorites coming to Xbox dashboard

The Microsoft E3 event showed off what appears to be a completely revamped dashboard. While we’re still waiting on the details of exactly what that will look like, Marc Whitten just revealed that one of the upgrades is something we’ve been requesting for a while. Evidently Microsoft got the memo, because starting this Fall you will now be able to add your favorite games and media to the home page of your dashboard. According to Whitten:

Favorites allows you to personalize the dashboard by saving your movies, TV, games, music and the web right to the home screen in the dashboard. Favorites will make it easier and faster than ever to get to your favorite content on Xbox and Xbox LIVE.

Kinect-controllable Internet Explorer coming to Xbox

The folks over at Polygon seem to have a secret tunnel leading deep into the Xbox 360 dashboard update headquarters. Hot on the heels of breaking the news about Kinect Play Fit, they’ve announced today that Microsoft will be bringing a modified version of Internet Explorer 9 to the Xbox dashboard. While the app will be optimized for Kinect motion and voice controls, folks with only a standard controller will still be able to get in on the fun. Although there is no release date as of yet, we can expect to hear about both the IE app and Kinect Play Fit at the upcoming E3 briefing.

Rumor: Kinect Sports 3 to be revealed at E3

OXM UK has published a feature centered around their predictions for Microsoft’s lineup at this year’s E3 expo. Among the outlets predictions is Kinect Sports 3: Summer Edition. This prediction however, might be more of an “educated guess”, than just a random thought. A Wikipedia page already exists for the game, which OXM just happened to stumble upon as they were doing research for their feature. Is this a leak on the part of Microsoft, or just wishful thinking by some Wikipedia loving fan? The true story will come with time, but the thought of Kinect Sports 3 appearing at E3 2012 certainly doesn’t seem to be too much of a stretch.
