Microsoft files patent for 3D audio

Microsoft recently filed a patent that will track listeners in a room and provide 3D audio no matter where they are in the room. This varies from the standard surround sound system where you have to sit in specific position to get the full effect. The system relies on a “depth camera system” which could be Kinect to track people’s positions in a room and adjusts which speaker produces which sound. This means that will no longer be a sweet spot to get the best sound which is fantastic for audiophiles and gamers alike. It should also make games more immersive and accurate.
