Double Fine to unveil Happy Action Theater sequel this Friday

The fine folks over at Giant Bomb will have the privilege of unveiling the sequel to Double Fine’s Happy Action Theater this Friday according to Giant Bomb co-founder Ryan Davis, who announced the news to the world on Twitter. While details on the sequel itself are scarce, rumors are floating about that the game will be live streamed over the internet for its coming out party. Additionally, word has it that the game will be playable at PAX Prime, which kicks off on August 31st.

The original Happy Action Theater (available now on Xbox Live Arcade) is essentially a collection of Kinect driven mini-games. The creative and twisted minds at Double Fine force players to do everything from avoid molten lava, to dodge pigeon feces while playing the game which literally takes over your living space thanks to Kinect’s unique abilities. It’s hard to imagine what kinds of crazy situations the development team may have thought of this time around. Lucky for us, we only have to wait until Friday to find out! For those unfamiliar, Double Fine Productions has become a household name within the gaming community. Headed by the legendary Tim Schafer, creator of Grim Fandango, Double Fine has touched a wide variety of genres, bringing their unique brand of fun and humor along with them everywhere they go. From the mind bending platformer Psychonauts, to the action-strategy and heavy metal hybrid Brutal Legend to downloadable titles like the Iron Brigade, Costume Quest and Stacking the Double Fine logo has become something of a seal of quality to many gamers. Double Fine also developed Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster, which marked their first, and certainly not their last foray into Kinect territory. If you’re willing to attempt to wrap your mind around the madness that is Double Fine Productions, check out the Double Fine Primer feature over at our sister site, XBLA Fans.
