Sesame Street DLC is cheap

[springboard type="youtube" id="jhBjSS8PcgU" player="xbla001" width="640" height="360" ]
The Once Upon a Monster: New Chapter DLC is cheap this week, not part of the usual DoTW but as part of Kinect Central. From today until the 2nd, the DLC is half price at 200 MSP, which is a steal for that price. The New Chapter DLC takes place with new alien monster friends. It lasts roughly the same amount of time as any other chapter from the game and is just as high a quality as the retail game. You can pick the DLC up here but be quick, its only half price until the 2nd of July.

Celebrate the release of Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor with its launch trailer

[springboard type="youtube" id="T0cSwsM_HRo" player="xbla001" width="640" height="360" ]

To celebrate today’s release of Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor in North America, Capcom has blessed us with a new launch trailer, which shows just what it’s like to step inside of one the game’s vehicles. Some might call these vehicles mechs, while others might call them walking tanks. For now, let’s just call them the ridiculously powerful and destructive vehicles of Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor. Anyway, the trailer (which can be viewed above) demonstrates the game’s combination of traditional Xbox 360 controller gameplay and Kinect motion controls. Heavy Armor is one of the first games to blend the two control methods.

The Steel Battalion franchise made its debut on the original Xbox, launching with a massive and extremely expensive controller with all sorts of buttons, and levers to help make the player feel like they were really controlling a mech. Unfortunately for Capcom, the price of the controller made the game unaffordable for many players. By combining the Xbox 360 controller with the miracle of Microsoft’s own Kinect technology, Capcom and From Software have created Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, with the same core idea; Make players feel like they are truly inside of, and in control of a mech, fighting a futuristic war. A demo for the game is currently available on the Xbox Live Marketplace for those looking to give From Software’s latest a spin before digging into the full three course meal, which is on shelves now.

Blind Wink Games developing Matter

Very little is known about the Gore Verbinski game Matter; it uses Kinect and emotion is meant to play a large part in the game. We now know that it is being developed as a first project for Blind Wink Games, who are in partnership with Universal Studios.

Verbinski wants to make a connection between the motions the player makes and the emotions they feel playing the game. It sounds very similar to what Peter Molyneux has in mind for Kinect as well but there are too few details to make any assumptions about Matter as of yet. The game is set for release on XBLA next year so more details are sure to follow in the next few months.

The debut trailer and release date for Skyrim’s Dawnguard DLC are here

Bethesda Softworks has revealed that the highly anticipated Dawnguard add-on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is currently scheduled to release on June 26th. While the release date is described as “tentative”, select owners of the game on Xbox 360 may not have to wait that long to play the DLC. Bethesda has also announced that they are running a beta for Dawnguard, which you can sign up for, by following this link. In case you needed some motivation to do so, check out the debut trailer for Dawnguard above.

Originally released last holiday season, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim quickly became one of the year’s biggest critical successes and one of the best selling role-playing games on the Xbox 360. Opening an enormous world containing a seemingly endless amount of content, players still find themselves questing and hunting down dragons, seven months after release. Back in May, Kinect support was added to the game, in the form of voice commands, which allow players to spice up their experience by adding their own voice to the mix, breathing new life into their character.

Majesco has officially pulled the veil off NBA Baller Beats, the only game that combines the basketball and the music/rhythm genre into one. As displayed in the trailer above, players use a real basketball to learn and improve their ball handling skills, all to the rhythm of music. Imagine Guitar Hero or Rock Band, but with a basketball instead of a musical instrument. We know your mother always told you not to play in the house, but NBA Baller Beats beckons you to do just that. Along with the debut trailer, Majesco also announced 15 of the game’s 30 music tracks which includes songs from popular artists such as Kanye West, Them Crooked Vultures, LMFAO, Run DMC, Queen, Skillrex, Common, and The Gorillaz.
