Fable: The Journey launch trailer celebrates its US release

[springboard type="youtube" id="Wcn7ADDH1eM" player="xbla001" width="640" height="360" ]

The hotly anticipated Fable: The Journey from Lionhead Studios and Microsoft has finally arrived in stores in North America. In celebration of the game’s release, the team behind the game has released a brand new launch trailer, which you can find above. While the full game is available on shelves now, don’t forget that you can still pick up the playable demo of the game on Xbox Live if you haven’t already.

Fable: The Journey represents a major departure for the franchise, which is known for its unique blend of action role-playing mechanics, charming world, consequential world altering player decisions and humor. While Fable: The Journey may have all of these familiar Fable elements and more, it’s the perspective that represents the largest change that the game has to offer. The Journey trades in third-person hack and slash combat for a completely Kinect controlled first-person experience which allows players to cast spells and use magic to vanquish their foes and explore the world. Lionhead has gone on record to talk about how large The Journey is both as a videogame (Three tims larger than the world of Fable III), as well as symbolically for the studio and Kinect itself as a part of the Xbox experience.

There has been a great amount of discussion around Fable: The Journey since its unveiling a few years back, and it all comes to summation today. If you’ve played the demo, or if you’re picking up the full game, make sure you hop on over to our Forums and chime in with your thoughts. Fable: The Journey will be available in all non-North American territories by October 12th.

4J Studios details Minecraft 1.8.2 update but remains mum on promised Kinect support

4J Studios has released a new video of the upcoming 1.8.2 update for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. The video shows off the addition that is Creative Mode, which allows for players to build whatever their heart desires with an unlimited amount of resources, and without the threat of monsters blowing it sky high at night. The update will also add NPCs, a plethora of new items, as well as a host of other features, which will bring the game closer to the current PC version of the game. The team at 4J has stated that the patch will be submitted to Microsoft Certification within a few weeks.

At Microsoft’s Spring Showcase last year, Roger Carpenter, Lead Producer on Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition stated that Kinect support for the game would indeed be patched in post-release. Since release, the game has shattered nearly every Xbox Live Arcade record in existence, recently surpassing 3.6 million downloads. Still, thus far, we have yet to hear a word from 4J, Microsoft, or Mojang on the topic of Kinect support since the game’s launch this past summer. We contacted 4J seeking comment but have yet to hear a response. For now, check out the video of the upcoming 1.8.2 update and keep your fingers crossed that we hear about the previously announced Kinect integration for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition soon.

Kinect Sports Ultimate Collection Demo out now

[springboard type="youtube" id="xnOXLvfqYP8" player="xbla001" width="640" height="360" ]

Kinect Sports is easily one of the go to titles, for both party play and general fun with the Kinect. So much so, that they even released a second game in the series. Kinect Sports: Season 2 brought the total number of sports up to 13; with variations on specific parts of those sports, leading to a large number of minigames. Now with the release of Kinect Sports Ultimate Collection the demo has also arrived.

If you missed the games first time round; then now is your chance to pick them up at a bargain price, plus no disc swapping required. Still if you are unsure, then it can’t hurt to queue up the demo from here.
