The Avengers alpha footage

In another universe, perhaps the cancelled THQ Avengers tie-in title would have made it onto Xbox 360? On some little version of Earth far beyond our dimension, The Avengers may have been out by now, gamers madly waging war against forces that would bring harm to their planet. With our comic book-scrambled minds, we are left to wonder and revel at the potential magnificence that could have been. With this said, it is intriguing to note that there is a leaked video floating around with some footage of what this game could have looked like.

Check out the video below for a short glimpse of the alpha footage for The Avengers. Unfortunately, the division in Australia working on this movie tie-in was shut down last August, and all that remains is ghost video on Youtube. From what can be viewed in this brief clip, however, this game would have been interesting.

Steel Battalion is the most accurate Kinect game to date

According to Capcom, Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor is the most accurate Kinect game to date. Eurogamer interviewed the game’s producer Kenji Kataoka about the motion recognition they are using in the game. Strangely enough it seems that Microsoft have been spearheading the change on how Kinect recognizes the motions, all with the help of Capcom.

“[Microsoft] had to come up with a whole library in the SDK [software development kit] in collaboration with us to develop a whole new concept of using Kinect,” this new method comes from focusing on gestures made, rather than detecting an entire area and then working out the motions. ”Now it’s a combination of coordinates, area and gestures. That adds a lot more accuracy. It now can detect what your intentions are just by small movement rather than the absolute coordinate of where your hands are.”

Update: Eurogamer updated with a more definite release date of June 13.

Seeing the powers in action really does make it seem as though this game will make you feel like God and only leaves us counting down the days until the game releases.
