4J Studios details Minecraft 1.8.2 update but remains mum on promised Kinect support

4J Studios has released a new video of the upcoming 1.8.2 update for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. The video shows off the addition that is Creative Mode, which allows for players to build whatever their heart desires with an unlimited amount of resources, and without the threat of monsters blowing it sky high at night. The update will also add NPCs, a plethora of new items, as well as a host of other features, which will bring the game closer to the current PC version of the game. The team at 4J has stated that the patch will be submitted to Microsoft Certification within a few weeks.

At Microsoft’s Spring Showcase last year, Roger Carpenter, Lead Producer on Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition stated that Kinect support for the game would indeed be patched in post-release. Since release, the game has shattered nearly every Xbox Live Arcade record in existence, recently surpassing 3.6 million downloads. Still, thus far, we have yet to hear a word from 4J, Microsoft, or Mojang on the topic of Kinect support since the game’s launch this past summer. We contacted 4J seeking comment but have yet to hear a response. For now, check out the video of the upcoming 1.8.2 update and keep your fingers crossed that we hear about the previously announced Kinect integration for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition soon.
